Both the Mohawk Valley DiamondDawgs (1-6) and the Oneonta Outlaws (4-2) put runners aboard on Thursday, but it was the Mohawk Valley DiamondDawgs that were able to take advantage, pulling out a 2-1 win at Veterans Memorial Park.
Jonathan McKinney baffled the Oneonta Outlaws, striking out 11 batters. McKinney allowed one earned run, four hits and one walk over six innings.
A bright spot for the Oneonta Outlaws in the defeat was Austin Higginbotham, who allowed only one run while striking out seven.
Chris Henry got the win, running his season record to 1-0. Henry struck out one, walked one and gave up no hits.
Mike Adams ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with his first loss of the year. He lasted just one inning, walked two, struck out three, and allowed one run.
