Early lead not enough for the Jamestown Jammers, drop 4-3 decision to the Newark Pilots

The Jamestown Jammers (2-6) built an early edge on Wednesday, but the Newark Pilots (6-2) roared back to steal a 4-3 victory at Colburn Park.

The Newark Pilots took the lead in the fifth inning on a two-run double by Matt Zielonoko.

Jacob Hendricks put together a nice outing. Hendricks held the Jamestown Jammers hitless over four innings, allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out six.

D.J. Mendenhall recorded his first win of the year for the Newark Pilots. He allowed one run over four innings. He struck out four, walked none and surrendered six hits.

Chris Vallimont (0-1) took the loss for the Jamestown Jammers. He lasted just 5 2/3 innings, walked four, struck out 10, and allowed four runs.
