A great effort by Kayla Byers hoisted the Mt. Hood (36-8) to a 5-0 win in seven innings over the Centralia (31-12) on Saturday at Delta Park.
Byers struck out 11, paving the way for a the Mt. Hood win. The Mt. Hood's pitcher gave up just four hits over seven shutout innings.
It was a good day at the plate for the Mt. Hood's Karli Butler. Butler went 2-2, drove in one and scored one run. He singled in the third inning and tripled in the sixth inning.
Kierstin Smith couldn't get it done on the mound for the Centralia, taking a loss. He lasted just six innings, walked one, struck out two, and allowed five runs.
