Pete Parella was cold coming off the bench, but Parella warmed up quickly as Parella stroked a key pinch-hit single in the one to lead the RR Construction (3-8) to an 8-4 win over the Mudville (2-6) on Saturday at Cardines Field (Newport).
With the RR Construction leading by one in the first inning, Parella came to the plate and singled.
It was a good day at the plate for the RR Construction's John Razzino. Razzino went 2-4, drove in one and scored two runs. He singled in the first and second innings.
Andrew Viega pitched lights out for the RR Construction. The Mudville managed just one hit off of Viega, who allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out four during his three innings of work.
Dylan Smith was effective even in defeat, mowing down eight the RR Construction batters and allowing zero runs.
Kyle Borges couldn't get it done on the bump for the Mudville, taking a loss. He allowed eight runs in three innings, walked two and struck out two.
