The Mt. Hood uses big first inning to beat the SW Oregon, 9-1

The Mt. Hood (19-7) beat the SW Oregon (18-8) 9-1 in five innings on Wednesday at Southwestern Oregon Baseball Fi after a six-run explosion in the first inning.

The Mt. Hood scored in the first on an error, an RBI single by Jazmayne Williams, a two-run single by Karli Butler, a single by Reeghan Lehnert, and a two-run triple by Hailey Valitski.

Williams got a hit in each of his three at bats.

Kayla Byers kept contact to a minimum, striking out six the SW Oregon batters. Byers allowed one earned run on six hits and no walks over five innings.

Shevan DeFreitas (8-2) took the loss for the SW Oregon. He allowed eight runs in three innings, walked two and struck out none.

Valitski, Darian Lindsey and Williams helped lead the Mt. Hood. They combined for six hits and three RBIs.
