The Windy City ThunderBolts top the Florence Freedom behind Bass' 2 hits, 16-1

An outstanding effort by Corey Bass hoisted the Windy City ThunderBolts (27-29) to a 16-1 win over the Florence Freedom (23-33) on Tuesday at Standard Bank Stadium.

Bass racked up six RBIs on two hits for the Windy City ThunderBolts. He homered in the eighth inning.

The Windy City ThunderBolts ran up the score, scoring runs at will until the final out. The Windy City ThunderBolts scored five runs in the last three innings to finish off the blowout win. The Windy City ThunderBolts scored six runs in the fourth on the Windy City ThunderBolts scored in the fourth on a three-run single by Blair Beck, a double by Coco Johnson, an RBI single by Tim Zier, and a two-run home run by Charley Thurber.

The Florence Freedom couldn't get anything going as long as Chris Chigas was pitching. The Florence Freedom managed just one hit off of the the Windy City ThunderBolts' pitcher, who allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out four during his four innings of work.

The Florence Freedom were led by Taylor Oldham's hitting. Oldham went 1-4, drove in one and scored one run. He homered in the first inning.

Kyle Von Ruden improved to 1-0 on the year by picking up the win for the Windy City ThunderBolts. He allowed one run over five innings. Von Ruden struck out five, walked none and gave up four hits.

Marty Anderson (0-1) was the game's losing pitcher. He lasted just 2 2/3 innings, walked three, struck out three, and allowed five runs.
