The Gateway Grizzlies (31-33) and the Schaumburg Boomers (28-35) both had scoring chances on Wednesday, but it was the Gateway Grizzlies that were able to capitalize on them as they pulled out a 5-4 win at GCS Ballpark.

Brandon Thomas racked up three RBIs on two hits for the Gateway Grizzlies. He homered in the first inning and singled in the ninth inning.

JaVaun West had an impressive outing against the Schaumburg Boomers' lineup. West held the Schaumburg Boomers hitless over two innings, allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out two.

A bright spot for the Schaumburg Boomers in the defeat was Scott Schultz, who allowed only two runs while striking out six.

Will LaMarche improved to 1-1 on the year by picking up the win for the Gateway Grizzlies. He allowed one run over one inning. He struck out two, walked none and surrendered two hits.

Dexter Price (2-4) took the loss for the Schaumburg Boomers. He lasted just one-third of an inning, walked two, struck out none, and allowed three runs.
