The Joliet Slammers outlast the Windy City ThunderBolts in high-scoring affair, 12-9

Fans were treated to a high-scoring affair Sunday as the Joliet Slammers (27-18) outscored the Windy City ThunderBolts (23-22) 12-9.

The teams totaled 28 hits in the game.

The Joliet Slammers came out swinging, scoring four runs in the first inning to jump ahead of the Windy City ThunderBolts early.

Carter Bell had a busy day at the plate, collecting three extra-base hits. He homered in the first inning and doubled in the second and sixth innings.

Corey Bass was hot from the plate for the Windy City ThunderBolts. Bass went 3-5, drove in one and scored two runs. He homered in the sixth inning and singled in the fourth and ninth innings.

Sean Townsley improved to 4-4 on the year by picking up the win for the Joliet Slammers. He allowed three runs over six innings. Townsley struck out none, walked three and gave up six hits.

Jake Fisher couldn't get it done on the rubber for the Windy City ThunderBolts, taking a loss. He allowed six runs in two innings, walked none and struck out three.

Marc Flores, Bell and Charlie White helped lead the Joliet Slammers. They combined for nine hits and seven RBIs.
