A five-run explosion in the seventh inning carried the Big Bend (9-0) to a 9-2 win over the Thompsons River at Johnson-O'Brien Stadium on Saturday.
The Big Bend scored in the seventh on , a single by Justin Dehoog, a solo home run by Ryan Grening, a two-run error, and an error.
Grening reached base three times. He scored two runs and had two RBIs.
The Thompsons River had no answer for Aidan Lucas, who kept runners off the basepaths in his appearance. Lucas held the Thompsons River hitless over three innings, allowed no earned runs, walked three and struck out three.
Despite the loss, the Thompsons River's Ferguson dominated the Big Bend's batters, giving up three runs and striking out five.
Jaime Vela recorded his first win of the year for the Big Bend. He allowed two runs over three innings. Vela struck out three, walked one and gave up four hits.
