The Mt. Hood (3-1) refused to relinquish the lead after grabbing it early against the Yakima Valley (1-3), recording a 13-1 victory on Sunday at Columbia Playfields.
The game was decided quickly as the Mt. Hood exerted their will early with seven runs in the first three innings.
A triple by Megan Marcy, a two-run triple by Marcy, an RBI single by Karli Butler, and a groundout by Davineekaht White Elk in the first inning and a sacrifice fly by Rachel Rutledge and an RBI double by Madisen Baldwin during the second inning supplied the early offense for the Mt. Hood.Marcy racked up three RBIs on three hits for the Mt. Hood.
Kendal Cox struck out eight hitters en route to the the Mt. Hood win. Cox allowed one earned run on three hits and no walks over five innings.
Beth Anderson was charged with his second loss of the year. He allowed 13 runs in four innings, walked none and struck out three.
