Both the Wareham Gatemen (23-15) and the Orleans Firebirds (19-22) put runners aboard on Monday, but it was the Wareham Gatemen that were able to take advantage, pulling out a 5-4 win at Spillane Field.
Joey Bart racked up three RBIs on two hits for the Wareham Gatemen. He singled in the first inning and homered in the third inning.
Payton Squier paced the Orleans Firebirds at the plate. Squier went 2-4, drove in one and scored one run. He singled in the fourth inning and doubled in the ninth inning.
Dalton Horton improved to 2-1 on the year by picking up the win for the Wareham Gatemen. He allowed two runs over 4 2/3 innings. Horton struck out three, walked one and gave up five hits.
Cory Abbott was charged with his second loss of the year. He lasted just two innings, walked one, struck out one, and allowed two runs.
