Keegan McGovern went 1-4 and hit a home run, helping the Orleans Firebirds (8-8) to a 5-3 victory over the Yarmouth-Dennis Red Sox (7-9) on Tuesday at Red Wilson Field.

Eli Morgan pitched lights out for the Orleans Firebirds. Morgan held the Yarmouth-Dennis Red Sox hitless over 1 2/3 innings, allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out three.

The Yarmouth-Dennis Red Sox were led by Kevin Smith's hitting. Smith went 3-4 and scored one run. He doubled in the fifth inning and singled in the second and ninth innings.

Bryan Sammons pitched lights out for the Yarmouth-Dennis Red Sox. Sammons gave up just two hits, allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out three during his 3 1/3 innings of work.

Kirk McCarty improved to 2-0 on the year by picking up the win for the Orleans Firebirds. He allowed two runs over five innings. McCarty struck out seven, walked one and gave up four hits.

Pat Vanderslice couldn't get it done on the mound for the Yarmouth-Dennis Red Sox, taking a loss. He lasted just 4 2/3 innings, walked none, struck out three, and allowed four runs.
