Jake Palomaki went 2-3 and hit a home run, helping the Chatham Anglers (8-6) to a 2-0 victory over the Brewster Whitecaps (8-6) on Saturday at Veterans Field.
He singled in the first inning and homered in the eighth inning.Tanner Chock pitched lights out for the Chatham Anglers. The Brewster Whitecaps managed just two hits off of the the Chatham Anglers' pitcher, who allowed no earned runs, walked two and struck out two during his five innings of work.
A bright spot for the Brewster Whitecaps in the defeat was Kade McClure, who allowed only zero runs while striking out eight.
Simon Mathews improved to 1-0 on the year by picking up the win for the Chatham Anglers. Mathews struck out three, walked none and gave up three hits.
Jacob Wloczewski ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with his second loss of the year. He lasted just one inning, walked one, struck out none, and allowed one run.
