The Cotuit Kettleers (1-5) built an early edge on Thursday, but the Orleans Firebirds (4-2) roared back to steal a 6-5 victory at Lowell Park.

Ethan Paul boosted his batting average thanks to a perfect 2-2 day at the plate to pace the Orleans Firebirds. He doubled in the second inning and singled in the ninth inning.

Zach Willeman brought the heat against the Cotuit Kettleers during his outing. Willeman held the Cotuit Kettleers hitless over 1 1/3 innings, allowed no earned runs, walked one and struck out three.

Kevin Smith got the win, running his season record to 1-0. He struck out two, walked none and surrendered two hits.

Dave Gerber (0-1) took the loss for the Cotuit Kettleers. He lasted just one inning, walked two, struck out one, and allowed one run.
