The Brewster Whitecaps (2-4) failed to take advantage of Matt Davis's effort at the plate on Thursday, losing 10-8 to the Yarmouth-Dennis Red Sox (1-5) at Stony Brook.
Davis hit two home runs for the Brewster Whitecaps. Davis went 3-5 in the game with five RBIs and three runs scored. Davis homered in the fifth and eighth innings.
Both squads had things going at the plate, tallying 18 runs and 28 hits, including zero extra base hits. Both bullpens were busy with nine pitchers used in the game as the skippers of both squads tried to finish it off.
Kevin Smith had three extra-base hits for the Yarmouth-Dennis Red Sox. He doubled in the fifth and seventh innings, homered in the eighth innings, and singled in the ninth inning.
Jacob Wloczewski (0-1) took the loss for the Brewster Whitecaps. He lasted just two-thirds of an inning, walked one, struck out none, and allowed four runs.
Brendan Skidmore, Matthew Whatley and Smith helped lead the Yarmouth-Dennis Red Sox. They combined for eight hits and six RBIs.
