Wheat went 2-4, helping the Fairfield Indians to a 7-4 victory over the Sacramento Heat (8-18) on Tuesday at Alan Witt Park.
He tripled in the fourth inning and singled in the fifth inning.The Fairfield Indians got the win thanks in large part to Shawn Jackson's dominant, 11-strikeout performance. Jackson allowed three earned runs, two hits and seven walks over six innings.
Damien Chavez led the Sacramento Heat's offensive threat, as he got on base four times in the game. He scored two runs and had one RBI. He homered in the fifth inning.
Justin Kottinger had an impressive outing against the Fairfield Indians' lineup. Kottinger held the Fairfield Indians hitless over two innings, allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out two.
Donnie Gardiner was charged with his second loss of the year. He allowed seven runs in five innings, walked three and struck out three.
