Justin Mannens both hit and pitched well for the Nevada Big Horns (6-10), but it wasn't enough as the Nevada Big Horns fell to the Sacramento Heat 9-7 at North Tahoe Park on Saturday.
Mannens went a perfect 1-1 at the dish for the Nevada Big Horns. He singled in the fifth and seventh innings.
The Sacramento Heat (6-10) had no answer for Mannens, who kept runners off the basepaths in his appearance. The Sacramento Heat managed just one hit off of the the Nevada Big Horns' pitcher, who allowed no earned runs, walked one and struck out two during his one inning of work.
The Sacramento Heat were led by Adam Finlay's hitting. Finlay went 2-4 and drove in one. He tripled in the fifth inning and singled in the sixth inning.
Kyle Barron recorded his first win of the year for the Sacramento Heat. He allowed three runs over 3 2/3 innings. He struck out three, walked four and surrendered one hit.
Zachary Muenster was charged with his third loss of the year. He allowed seven runs in five innings, walked three and struck out three.
