A six-run explosion in the second inning carried the Rockville Express (7-17) to a 9-2 win in seven innings over the Baltimore Redbirds at Calvert Hall HS on Saturday.

The Rockville Express scored in the second on a groundout by Jett Manning, a single by Jason Reyes, , a single by Mason Koppens, a sacrifice fly by Kyle Baker, and a double by Eddie Nevins.

Reyes had a hot bat for the Rockville Express. Reyes went 3-4, drove in one and scored two runs.

Brian Mroz brought the heat against the Baltimore Redbirds (17-6) during his outing. Mroz held the Baltimore Redbirds hitless over two innings, allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out two.

Kyle Datres went a perfect 2-2 at the plate for the Baltimore Redbirds. He singled in the second and fifth innings.

Trevor Gill improved to 1-1 on the year by picking up the win for the Rockville Express. He allowed two runs over five innings. He struck out four, walked two and surrendered six hits.

Ryan Yesner couldn't get it done on the rubber for the Baltimore Redbirds, taking a loss. He allowed seven runs in 1 2/3 innings, walked one and struck out none.
