Matt Pita drove in five runs, sparking the Gaithersburg Giants (9-12) to an 11-6 victory over the Alexandria Aces (13-10) on Friday at Criswell Automotive Field.
He homered in the third inning and singled in the seventh inning.Liam McArthur had a hot bat for the Alexandria Aces. McArthur went 3-5 and scored one run. He singled in the first, fourth, and eighth innings.
Truman Thomas recorded his third win of the year for the Gaithersburg Giants. He allowed three runs over six innings. Thomas struck out two, walked one and gave up eight hits.
AJ Spencer (2-2) was the game's losing pitcher. He allowed seven runs in 3 1/3 innings, walked three and struck out two.
