Not even a strong hitting and pitching performance from Zach McCrum could carry the D.C. Grays (9-13) past the Rockville Express (6-15) at Washington Nationals Academy on Thursday as the D.C. Grays suffered a 9-7 defeat.
McCrum rocked the Rockville Express with two home runs. McCrum went 2-5 in the game with three RBIs and two runs scored. McCrum homered in the fourth and sixth innings.
The Rockville Express couldn't get anything going so long as McCrum was on the hill. The Rockville Express managed just one hit off of McCrum, who allowed one earned run, walked none and struck out two during his three innings of work.
The Rockville Express were led by a flawless day at the dish by Billy Lennox, who went 4-4 against the D.C. Grays' pitching. He singled in the third, fourth, sixth, and eighth innings.
Eric Brown improved to 1-0 on the year by picking up the win for the Rockville Express. He allowed four runs over 7 2/3 innings. Brown struck out two, walked two and gave up seven hits.
Bo Burrup was charged with his second loss of the year. He allowed seven runs in five innings, walked one and struck out one.
