Tarantino stars as the Top Speed Baseball defeat the California Bees, 15-1

An excellent effort by Matthew Tarantino spurred the Top Speed Baseball (40-4) to a 15-1 win over the California Bees (14-25) on Saturday at Drake High.

Tarantino blasted three home runs for the Top Speed Baseball. Tarantino went 4-5 in the game with five RBIs and three runs scored. Tarantino homered in the first, fourth, and eighth innings.

Six runs in the opening three innings allowed the Top Speed Baseball to easily put away the California Bees. A two-run home run by Tarantino, an RBI double by Matthew Martinez, and a two-run single by Nick Rau in the first inning helped the Top Speed Baseball put some runs on the board early.

Diego Ibarra picked up the win for the Top Speed Baseball. Ibarra allowed one earned run, five hits and two walks while striking out four over eight innings of work.

Michael Franco did his best to jumpstart the offense for the California Bees, reaching base three times. He doubled in the fifth inning.

Sam Reinertsen (3-3) was the game's losing pitcher. He allowed 11 runs in 4 2/3 innings, walked four and struck out none.

The Top Speed Baseball easily handled the California Bees pitching as seven hitters combined for 19 hits, 13 RBIs and 13 runs scored.
