A superb effort by Mason Collins lifted the California Bees (8-15) to a 7-0 win over the Sacramento Heat on Friday at Terra Linda HS.
Collins held the Sacramento Heat (8-16) scoreless for eight innings. Collins struck out eight and allowed no walks and four hits.
The California Bees blew out the Sacramento Heat thanks to 11 hits, including zero extra base hits. The California Bees scored three runs in the sixth on the California Bees scored in the sixth on a solo home run by Jack Friedman, an RBI single by Donovan Buechs, and an RBI single by Max Werner.
Friedman had two extra-base hits for the California Bees.
Timothy Mendonca couldn't get it done on the mound for the Sacramento Heat, taking a loss. He allowed six runs in 5 2/3 innings, walked five and struck out two.
The California Bees were sparked by Friedman and Michael Franco, who teamed up for five hits and two RBIs.
