Jerrod Groves went 2-3, helping the Midwest Haymakers (4-6) to a 2-1 victory over the New York Colonials (5-4) on Wednesday at Palm Springs Stadium.
He singled in the first and sixth innings.Kenny Frosch pitched lights out for the Midwest Haymakers. Frosch held the New York Colonials hitless over 1 2/3 innings, allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out two.
Despite the loss, the New York Colonials' Ryan Davis dominated the Midwest Haymakers' batters, giving up two runs and striking out seven.
Davis ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with his second loss of the year.
