It took 10 innings, but the Moose Jaw Miller Express (4-10) managed to put away the Medicine Hat Mavericks (11-3) 5-4 on Thursday at Athletic Park.
With the score tied at four, Chris Suarez came to the plate and doubled, plating Cole Distler.
The Medicine Hat Mavericks had no answer for Travis Kuhn, who kept runners off the basepaths in his appearance. Kuhn held the Medicine Hat Mavericks hitless over 2 1/3 innings, allowed no earned runs, walked one and struck out one.
A bright spot for the Medicine Hat Mavericks in the defeat was Troy Schreivogel, who allowed only one run while striking out five.
Talon Kunkel (0-1) took the loss for the Medicine Hat Mavericks. He lasted just 3 2/3 innings, walked none, struck out five, and allowed one run.
