Four first-inning runs helped the D.C. Grays (8-6) to a 6-3 win over the Gaithersburg Giants (6-8) at Washington Nationals Academy on Wednesday.
The D.C. Grays scored in the first on a solo home run by Luke Robinson, an RBI double by Marques Inman, a groundout by Drake Hollingsworth, and a groundout by Lamar Briggs.
Evan Pace was hot from the plate for the D.C. Grays. Pace went 3-4 and scored two runs. He singled in the first and sixth innings and doubled in the seventh inning.
Matthew Dalke put together a nice outing. The Gaithersburg Giants managed just three hits off of Dalke, who allowed no earned runs, walked one and struck out five during his four innings of work.
Eric Brodkowitz ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with his second loss of the year. He allowed six runs in 5 2/3 innings, walked none and struck out five.
