Nick Egli went 2-5 and hit a home run as the Gaithersburg Giants (4-4) took home an 8-3 victory over the Bethesda Big Train (4-3) at Shirley Povich Field on Saturday.
He homered in the third inning and singled in the sixth inning.Matt Chanin picked up the win for the Gaithersburg Giants. Chanin allowed one earned run, seven hits and no walks while striking out four over 7 2/3 innings of work.
Michael Smith racked up two RBIs on two hits for the Bethesda Big Train. He singled in the eighth inning and doubled in the ninth innings.
Mack Mackenzie put together a nice outing. The Gaithersburg Giants managed just one hit off of Mackenzie, who allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out two during his 3 2/3 innings of work.
Alex Calvert (0-1) was the game's losing pitcher. He lasted just two innings, walked three, struck out one, and allowed four runs.
