Matt Pita drove in three runs, helping the Gaithersburg Giants (1-2) to a 9-4 victory over the Vienna River Dogs (2-1) on Wednesday at Criswell Automotive Field.

Jordan Sergent had two extra-base hits for the Vienna River Dogs. He doubled in the first inning and homered in the fifth inning.

Trevor Farrell pitched lights out for the Vienna River Dogs. The Gaithersburg Giants managed just three hits off of Farrell, who allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out three during his three innings of work.

Calvin Bush improved to 1-0 on the year by picking up the win for the Gaithersburg Giants. He allowed two runs over four innings. Bush struck out six, walked three and gave up three hits.

Matt Favero ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with his first loss of the year. He lasted just two-thirds of an inning, walked one, struck out two, and allowed four runs.
