The Lake Norman Copperheads (4-9) came out firing, but couldn't hang on to the lead, ending up on the losing side of a 6-2 ballgame against the Piedmont Pride (11-2) on Friday at Winthrop University.

An error gave the Piedmont Pride the lead in the sixth inning.

Chandler Redmond went a perfect 3-3 at the dish for the Piedmont Pride. He doubled in the fourth inning and singled in the first and sixth innings.

Arien Seymour improved to 1-0 on the year by picking up the win for the Piedmont Pride. He struck out one, walked none and surrendered two hits.

Zachary Davis was charged with his second loss of the year. He lasted just 5 2/3 innings, walked five, struck out one, and allowed five runs.
