The Piedmont Pride best the Team Charlotte in shootout, 11-9

Fans were treated to a high-scoring affair Monday as the Piedmont Pride (7-2) outscored the Team Charlotte (3-6) 11-9.

The teams totaled 22 hits in the game.

The Piedmont Pride came out swinging, scoring four runs in the first inning to jump ahead of the Team Charlotte early. The Piedmont Pride scored in the first on a groundout by Sam Sustersic, a two-run triple by Derek Horton, and a wild pitch.

Horton had three extra-base hits for the Piedmont Pride.

The Team Charlotte had no answer for Willis Dobison, who kept runners off the basepaths in his appearance. The Team Charlotte managed just two hits off of Dobison, who allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out four during his three innings of work.

Jake Moebius got the win, running his season record to 1-0. He allowed four runs over three innings. Moebius struck out three, walked three and gave up six hits.

Paul Barnhill couldn't get it done on the mound for the Team Charlotte, taking a loss. He allowed seven runs in two innings, walked one and struck out three.

Caleb Robinson, Chandler Redmond and Horton helped lead the Piedmont Pride. They combined for seven hits and seven RBIs.
