The bats were busy at Hough High School on Saturday, and when the dust cleared the Lake Norman Copperheads (2-6) had a 21-8 win over the Team Charlotte (3-4) in seven innings.
The teams totaled 23 hits in the game.
The offense exploded for the the Lake Norman Copperheads in the first. The Team Charlotte had no answer as the Lake Norman Copperheads scored 13 runs. The Lake Norman Copperheads scored in the first on an RBI single by Luke Kaesmeyer, , , an RBI single by Aaron Taylor, a home run by Chris Wright, , and a home run by Kaesmeyer.
Even though Kellen McCoy allowed eight runs over five innings he still recorded the victory, his first of the season. McCoy struck out five, walked one and gave up 11 hits.
Garrett Leonard (0-1) took the loss for the Team Charlotte. He allowed 10 runs in zero innings, walked four and struck out none.
The Lake Norman Copperheads pounded the Team Charlotte pitching, as six hitters combined for nine hits, 19 RBIs and 15 runs scored.
