Alex Baratta went 2-4, sparking the Carolina Vipers (22-10) to a 9-5 victory in seven innings over the Lake Norman Copperheads (10-21) on Saturday at Hough High School.
He tripled in the second inning and singled in the fourth inning.The Lake Norman Copperheads had no answer for Zach Flanagan, who kept runners off the basepaths in his appearance. The Lake Norman Copperheads managed just one hit off of Flanagan, who allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out four during his four innings of work.
Even though Danny Dunning allowed five runs over three innings he still recorded the victory, his first of the season. He struck out one, walked two and surrendered five hits.
Hunter Isaacs was charged with his second loss of the year. He lasted just one inning, walked none, struck out one, and allowed no runs.
