The Piedmont Pride (2-1) beat the Concord Weavers (0-3) 5-1 in eight innings on Friday at Concord HS behind Chandler Redmond, who went 1-2.
He singled in the seventh innings.The Concord Weavers had no answer for Arien Seymour, who kept runners off the basepaths in his appearance. Seymour gave up just one hit, allowed no earned runs, walked one and struck out seven during his 2 2/3 innings of work.
Ryan Huey improved to 1-0 on the year by picking up the win for the Piedmont Pride. He allowed one run over four innings. Huey struck out seven, walked one and gave up three hits.
Brad Dzeskewiz ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with the loss. He lasted just three innings, walked seven, struck out three, and allowed two runs.
