The Gateway Grizzlies (17-20) beat the Normal CornBelters 14-6 on Thursday at The Corn Crib after an eight-run explosion in the fifth inning.
The Gateway Grizzlies scored in the fifth on a sacrifice fly by Seth Heck, a two-run single by Tyler Tewell, an RBI single by Blake Brown, a three-run triple by Logan Davis, and an RBI single by Cody Livesay.
Davis racked up four RBIs on three hits for the Gateway Grizzlies.
Aaron Dudley racked up two RBIs on one hit for the Normal CornBelters (15-21). He homered in the seventh inning.
Adam Eggnatz got the win, running his season record to 2-0. He allowed four runs over six innings. Eggnatz struck out five, walked two and gave up four hits.
Chris Carmain (2-4) took the loss for the Normal CornBelters. He allowed 10 runs in four innings, walked one and struck out one.
