The Quincy Gems (7-1) beat the Terre Haute Rex (3-5) 3-1 on Friday at Quincy Stadium behind Joey Polak, who went 2-3 and hit a home run.
He singled in the second inning and homered in the fifth inning.Jake Haberer brought the heat against the Terre Haute Rex during his outing. The Terre Haute Rex managed just two hits off of Haberer, who allowed one earned run, walked two and struck out six during his five innings of work.
Despite the loss, the Terre Haute Rex's Damon Olds dominated the Quincy Gems' batters, giving up zero runs and striking out five.
