The Quincy Gems (7-1) beat the Terre Haute Rex (3-5) 3-1 on Friday at Quincy Stadium behind Joey Polak, who went 2-3 and hit a home run.

Jake Haberer brought the heat against the Terre Haute Rex during his outing. The Terre Haute Rex managed just two hits off of Haberer, who allowed one earned run, walked two and struck out six during his five innings of work.

Despite the loss, the Terre Haute Rex's Damon Olds dominated the Quincy Gems' batters, giving up zero runs and striking out five.

Michael Klein paced the Terre Haute Rex at the plate. Klein went 1-4, drove in one and scored one run. He homered in the fifth inning.

Scott Gorsuch recorded his second win of the year for the Quincy Gems. He struck out none, walked two and surrendered no hits.

Adam Polansky ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with his first loss of the year. He lasted just 5 2/3 innings, walked two, struck out two, and allowed three runs.
