Sixth-inning rally sparks blowout win for the Lafayette Aviators, 10-2

A six-run explosion in the sixth inning spurred the Lafayette Aviators (3-1) to a 10-2 win over the Champion City Kings at Davidson Stadium on Monday.

The Lafayette Aviators scored in the sixth on a solo home run by Riley Benner, an RBI single by Mark Sluys, a groundout by Bryce Evans, a groundout by Evans, an RBI single by Aaron Bence, and a single by Bence.

The Champion City Kings (1-3) were ahead early but they ultimately surrendered the lead for good. The Champion City Kings were up until the sixth inning, but the Lafayette Aviators had other plans for the final outcome, taking the lead back on an RBI single by Sluys.

Benner racked up two RBIs on three hits for the Lafayette Aviators.

TJ Harmon pitched lights out for the Lafayette Aviators. The Champion City Kings managed just three hits off of Harmon, who allowed two earned runs, walked three and struck out four during his six innings of work.

Brian Page recorded his first win of the year for the Lafayette Aviators. He struck out one, walked one and surrendered one hit.

Derek Schmidt couldn't get it done on the mound for the Champion City Kings, taking a loss. He lasted just one-third of an inning, walked none, struck out none, and allowed two runs.
