Riley Benner went 2-3, helping the Lafayette Aviators (1-0) to a 5-4 victory over the West Virginia Miners (1-1) on Friday.

Walter Talcott struck out five hitters en route to the the Lafayette Aviators win. The Lafayette Aviators' pitcher tossed four innings of shutout ball and allowed only four hits.

The West Virginia Miners were led by Austin Norman's hitting. Norman went 3-4, drove in one and scored one run. He singled in the third, fifth, and eighth innings.

Kiegan Basso (0-1) took the loss for the West Virginia Miners. He lasted just 2 2/3 innings, walked three, struck out one, and allowed two runs.
