The Joliet Slammers (9-11) and the Gateway Grizzlies (9-11) both threatened with rallies, but it was the Joliet Slammers that eventually took advantage of them in an 8-7 win at Silver Cross Field.

Brandon Thomas reached base three times in the game for the Gateway Grizzlies. He scored two runs and had one RBI. He doubled in the fifth inning.

Tyler Levine improved to 1-0 on the year by picking up the win for the Joliet Slammers. He struck out one, walked none and surrendered no hits.

Nate Carter ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with his second loss of the year. He lasted just one inning, walked none, struck out one, and allowed two runs.

The Joliet Slammers' Charlie White, Vazquez, Alfredo Rodriguez and Carter Bell combined for eight hits and eight RBIs.
