Early lead gives the Wachusett Dirt Dawgs easy victory over the Pittsfield Suns, 17-3

The Wachusett Dirt Dawgs (18-27) jumped out to an early lead on the Pittsfield Suns (17-27) and captured a 17-3 victory on Sunday at Doyle Field.

With eight runs in the first three innings, the Wachusett Dirt Dawgs left no doubt about the eventual outcome.

An RBI single by Don Walsh and a three-run home run by Rupert House during the first inning and , a double by Sean Webster, a double by Kyle Bonicki, a sacrifice fly by Scott Manea, a single by Walsh, and a single by Kevin Alexy in the second inning helped the Wachusett Dirt Dawgs put some runs on the board early.

Walsh racked up five RBIs on three hits for the Wachusett Dirt Dawgs.

The Pittsfield Suns couldn't get anything going so long as Kevin Tise was on the hill. The Pittsfield Suns managed just one hit off of Tise, who allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out one during his three innings of work.

Eric Hamilton blasted two home runs for the Pittsfield Suns. Hamilton went 2-4 in the game with three RBIs and two runs scored. Hamilton homered in the first and fourth innings.

Corey Hart got the win, running his season record to 1-2. He allowed three runs over five innings. Hart struck out seven, walked one and gave up five hits.

Brandon Shileikis (0-5) took the loss for the Pittsfield Suns. He allowed 10 runs in three innings, walked one and struck out two.
