The Worcester Bravehearts (17-7) beat the Bristol Blues (12-13) 9-3 on Thursday at Hanover Insurance Park at Fitto after a five-run explosion in the first inning.

The Worcester Bravehearts scored in the first on an RBI double by Mike Coggeshall, an RBI triple by Zack Tower, an RBI single by Matt Rothenberg, an RBI single by Nick Barry, and an RBI single by Barry.

Tower racked up three RBIs on two hits for the Worcester Bravehearts.

The Bristol Blues couldn't get anything going so long as Peter Bovenzi was on the hill. The Bristol Blues managed just one hit off of Bovenzi, who allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out three during his three innings of work.

JR Hilcher was charged with his first loss of the year. He lasted just one inning, walked two, struck out one, and allowed five runs.
