The Brockton Rox (11-11) failed to take advantage of Ishmael Edwards's effort at the plate on Saturday, losing 10-6 to the Marthas Vineyard Sharks (8-13) at Vineyard Baseball Park.
Edwards blasted two home runs for the Brockton Rox. Edwards went 2-4 in the game with three RBIs and two runs scored. Edwards homered in the fourth inning.
Ricky Surum paced the Marthas Vineyard Sharks at the plate. Surum went 3-4, drove in one and scored three runs. He singled in the second, fifth, and sixth innings.
Ricky Dennis pitched lights out for the Marthas Vineyard Sharks. Dennis held the Brockton Rox hitless over two innings, allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out two.
Steven Colella recorded his second win for the Marthas Vineyard Sharks even though he allowed six runs over 4 2/3 innings. Colella struck out two, walked none and gave up 10 hits.
David Griffin ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with his second loss of the year. He allowed six runs in 2 1/3 innings, walked three and struck out one.
