An excellent effort by R.J. Hall (Tufts University) spurred the Pittsfield Suns (5-3) to a 6-0 win over the Torrington Titans (3-5) on Friday at Wahconah Park.
Hall kept the Torrington Titans off the board during his eight innings of work. Hall struck out five and allowed no walks and five hits.
The Pittsfield Suns' bats came to life in the seventh inning. In the inning the Pittsfield Suns scored four runs. The Pittsfield Suns scored in the seventh on a fielder's choice, an RBI single by John Nolett (Bryant University), and a two-run double by Chris Cimmino (Merrimack University).
The Pittsfield Suns were led by Colin Gimblet's (Townson University) hitting. Gimblet went 3-4, drove in one and scored one run. He singled in the third, fifth, and seventh innings.
Mike Schettino (New Haven) (1-1) took the loss for the Torrington Titans. He lasted just four innings, walked four, struck out three, and allowed two runs.
