The Brockton Rox (4-3) jumped on the Torrington Titans (3-4) early on their way to a 6-2 win on Thursday at Campanelli Stadium, scoring three runs in the first inning.

The Brockton Rox scored in the first on an RBI single by Trent Turner (Memphis), an RBI single by Brett McManus (URI), and an RBI single by Alex Perry (Salve Regina).

Bryce Verplank (Oklahoma State) put together a nice outing. The Torrington Titans managed just two hits off of Verplank, who allowed one earned run, walked two and struck out four during his four innings of work.

It was a good day at the plate for the Torrington Titans' Michael Purcell (Rollins). Purcell went 3-4 and scored one run. He singled in the second, sixth, and eighth innings.

David Griffin (Curry College) improved to 1-0 on the year by picking up the win for the Brockton Rox. He allowed one run over three innings. He struck out two, walked one and surrendered four hits.

Malachi Emond (Alberts Magnus) was charged with his first loss of the year. He lasted just six innings, walked three, struck out six, and allowed five runs.
