The Klamath Falls Gems need walk-off sacrifice fly to beat the South Bay Storm, 5-4

A walk-off sacrifice fly from Alex Alvarado brought home the winning run for the Klamath Falls Gems (15-25) in a 5-4 victory over the South Bay Storm (22-19) at Kiger Stadium on Thursday.

The Klamath Falls Gems were led by Alvarado's hitting. Alvarado went 1-3, drove in one and scored two runs. He singled in the sixth inning.

The Klamath Falls Gems' Nick Hermes was perfect at the dish, going 3-3. He singled in the first and fourth innings and doubled in the eighth inning.

Despite the loss, the South Bay Storm's Connor Taylor dominated the Klamath Falls Gems' batters, giving up three runs and striking out five.

Bryan Hathaway recorded his first win of the year for the Klamath Falls Gems. Hathaway struck out three, walked one and gave up two hits.

Michael Valdes (1-2) was the game's losing pitcher. He lasted just two-thirds of an inning, walked one, struck out none, and allowed one run.
