Katie Barron came off the bench and never even had to swing his bat as Barron reached on a error in the four to lead the North Idaho (10-2) to a 5-4 win over the Treasure Valley (5-11) on Saturday at Heinz/Ore-Ida Regional Softball.
With the North Idaho trailing by one in the fourth inning, Barron came to the plate and reached on an error, scoring Brooke Russell.
The Treasure Valley had the lead early, but couldn't hold off the North Idaho. The Treasure Valley led until the seventh inning, but the North Idaho took the lead back on a groundout by Kekuulani Haake.
Abby Howard had two extra-base hits for the North Idaho. He doubled in the first innings, singled in the fourth inning, and homered in the sixth inning.
Barron put together a nice outing. Barron held the Treasure Valley hitless over two innings, allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out one.
Bailee Mills ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with his sixth loss of the year. He lasted just four innings, walked three, struck out one, and allowed three runs.
The North Idaho were sparked by Jamie Yurick and Howard, who teamed up for five hits and two RBIs.
