The Treasure Valley (5-9) refused to relinquish the lead after grabbing it early against the Spokane (8-4), recording an 8-0 victory on Friday at Heinz/Ore-Ida Regional Softball.
Eight runs in the first three innings allowed the Treasure Valley to put the game away early.
A two-run single by Kenzie Barrera during the first inning and and a two-run error in the second inning helped the Treasure Valley put some runs on the board early.Jessica Praegitzer reached base three times. He scored two runs and had one RBI. He singled in the second inning and doubled in the third inning.
Francesca Rodriquez held the Spokane scoreless during his five innings of work. He pitched a shutout, allowing no opposing players to cross the plate on two hits while ringing up one.
The Treasure Valley had no answer for Michele Strauss, who kept runners off the basepaths in his appearance. Strauss held the Treasure Valley hitless over 1 1/3 innings, allowed no earned runs, walked one and struck out four.
Makenzie Norwill (2-1) was the game's losing pitcher. He allowed eight runs in 2 2/3 innings, walked two and struck out one.
