The Centralia best the Pierce in shootout, 22-11

Fans were treated to a high-scoring affair Tuesday as the Centralia (26-11) outscored the Pierce (22-20) 22-11 in six innings.

The two teams combined for 33 hits in the game.

The biggest inning for the Centralia was the fourth. In the inning the Centralia scored 13 runs. The Centralia scored in the fourth on a solo home run by Megan Levang, an RBI single by McKenzie Wasson, a two-run home run by Kierstin Smith, a two-run single by Sydney Cole-Vogler, a two-run single by Cole-Vogler, a sacrifice fly by Katherine Muegge, an RBI single by Sierra Seymour, an RBI double by Wasson, a passed ball, and a three-run home run by Kayla Capps.

Smith went a perfect 3-3 at the plate for the Centralia.

McKenna Gagner racked up three RBIs on three hits for the Pierce. He homered in the third inning and singled in the fifth inning.

Smith recorded his seventeenth win for the Centralia even though he allowed 11 runs over five innings. Smith struck out three, walked three and gave up 13 hits.

Anna Lennox couldn't get it done on the rubber for the Pierce, taking a loss. He allowed 10 runs in 3 1/3 innings, walked five and struck out two.

The Centralia easily handled the Pierce pitching as seven hitters combined for 18 hits, 18 RBIs and 19 runs scored.
