Madison Heggie was cold coming off the bench, but Heggie warmed up quickly as Heggie stroked a key pinch-hit solo blast in the one to lead the Douglas (22-6) to a 15-4 win over the Edmonds (18-15) on Tuesday at Softball City .
With the game scoreless in the first inning Heggie came to the plate and homered.
Heggie racked up three RBIs on two hits for the Douglas.
Hannah Wilcox rocked the Douglas with two home runs. Wilcox went 2-3 in the game with three RBIs and two runs scored. Wilcox homered in the third and fifth innings.
Eight runs in the first three innings helped the Douglas blow out the Edmonds. An RBI home run by Heggie, a two-run home run by Heggie, and a solo home run in the first inning and an error and an RBI single by Heggie during the second inning supplied the early offense for the Douglas.
Keeley Ainge recorded his twelfth win of the year for the Douglas. He allowed three runs over four innings. He struck out three, walked one and surrendered five hits.
Hailey Malakowski (15-12) took the loss for the Edmonds. He allowed 13 runs in 3 1/3 innings, walked one and struck out none.
