Mt. Hood vs Lower Columbia: 9-3

Marcy stars as the Mt. Hood defeat the Lower Columbia, 9-3

A great effort by Megan Marcy hoisted the Mt. Hood (22-7) to a 9-3 win in seven innings over the Lower Columbia (23-7) on Saturday at Tam O' Shanter Park.

Marcy rocked the Lower Columbia with two home runs. Marcy went 2-4 in the game with four RBIs and two runs scored. Marcy homered in the fourth and fifth innings.

Everything was working at the plate for the the Mt. Hood in the fifth. The Lower Columbia had no answer as the Mt. Hood scored six runs. The Mt. Hood scored in the fifth on a two-run double by Darian Lindsey, a double by Tiara Champ, a single by Rachel Rutledge, an RBI single by Kayla Byers, a single by Byers, and a solo home run by Marcy.

The Lower Columbia jumped out to an early lead, but they were unable to hang on. The Lower Columbia led until the fifth inning, but the Mt. Hood took the lead back on a two-run double by Lindsey.

Byers baffled the Lower Columbia, striking out four batters. The Mt. Hood's pitcher gave up just four hits over four shutout innings.

Sammie Byron improved to 5-2 on the year by picking up the win for the Mt. Hood. He allowed three runs over three innings. Byron struck out one, walked two and gave up four hits.

Krystina Fischer couldn't get it done on the rubber for the Lower Columbia, taking a loss. He allowed nine runs in four innings, walked none and struck out two.
