Saturday was a great day for Kayla Andrews, as Andrews threw a shutout to carry the Columbia Basin (27-9) to an 8-0 victory over the Yakima Valley (5-27) at Dunbar Field in seven innings.
Andrews got the win for the Columbia Basin thanks to 18 strikeouts. The Columbia Basin's pitcher gave up just two hits over seven shutout innings.
The Columbia Basin blew out the Yakima Valley thanks to 12 hits, including zero extra base hits. The Columbia Basin scored three runs in the sixth on the Columbia Basin scored in the sixth on a sacrifice fly by Carlie Wyant, an RBI double by Megan McMurrin, and a two-run double by McMurrin.
Andrews had two extra-base hits for the Columbia Basin. He doubled in the fourth inning and homered in the seventh inning.
