The Columbia Basin (19-6) beat the Big Bend (7-16) 8-0 in five innings on Tuesday at CBC Softball Field after a five-run explosion in the third inning.
The Columbia Basin scored in the third on a sacrifice fly by Kayla Andrews, a groundout by Suzanna Lubanski, a double by Sarah Gilliam, a groundout by Terin Wade, a double by Karissa Valdez, a double by Megan McMurrin, and a passed ball.
McMurrin reached base three times. He scored two runs and had one RBI.
Andrews held the Big Bend scoreless during his five innings of work. He pitched a shutout, allowing no runs on three hits while striking out nine.
Olivia Harrison (2-7) took the loss for the Big Bend. He allowed eight runs in three innings, walked six and struck out three.
